Work Experience

 

- 25 years experience as a self-employed performing arts practitioner.

- Workshop leader teaching performing arts (circus skills) in over 1,500 schools from year 1 primary through to University level including many SEN schools.

- Creative writing teacher in schools and adult groups from age 5 to 95.

- Poet in residence at Beech Hill School, Halifax (2016 - present) (400+ lessons)

- Visiting lecturer at UCLan and Leeds Trinity Universities (6 years).

- Creative Writing workshop leader at HOOT mental health creative arts hub, (2016 – present).

- Joint workshop leader with dancer and choreographer Olivia Peers (Born and Bred Dance Theatre). DANCE/WRITE, writing and movement based projects for HOOT in Dewsbury and Huddersfield and for Huddersfield Literature Festiva (Approx 20 events).

- Workshop facilitator at Overgate and Kirkwood Hospices (4 years).

- Curator, editor and book designer of numerous anthologies in print.

- Poetry published in over 150 online and in print journals worldwide.

- Guest Artist, Theatre Tracks, Denton Library. (A physical theatre project for 12-15 yr olds who are in Foster or residential care, 2018.

- Joint workshop leader and administrator of The Writing Room, over 50s Creative Writing Class (approx 80 sessions).

- Administrator (membership secretary) for WriteOutLoud

- Workshop facilitator for Creative Pathways at NHS Enfield down, a unit for residents with severe and enduring mental health issues.

- Leads to Leeds, Commissioned collaboration for Leeds University with poet, Suzanne Evans.

- Poets Write Jazz, 3 commissioned poems inspired by Vibraphone musician, Cal Tjader.

- Vector Humans, Author of a poem series made from found overheard street conversations, published by VoiceIn Journal.

- Traces, Poet in residence with Gaia Holmes at The Gallery at the End of the Lane, Coaley, Golucs.

- Rochdale Canal Festival Poet in Residence (2012) Commissioned poetry and curator of 34 mile long poetry trail on the locks of the canal

- Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, Pop up Poet in Residence 2012 to 2014 & 2017.

- Hey Days, Over 55s Creative writing group tutor, West Yorkshire Playhouse (12 sessions. 2013).

- The Writing Room, Tutor and administrator at Over 50s Creative Writing Group, Square Chapel Centre for the Arts / Calderdale Industrial Museum. (2014 – Present).

- Manchester Museum, Commissioned event in living world gallery. Dream Catcher, 2014.

- Poetry Quest, with Square Chapel Arts Centre, Halifax & Children & The Arts. Ten poetry workshops and production of a theatre show (2014-15 All Saints & St. Chads / 2015-17 Beech Hill & Moorside).

- Poetry Champions, with Square Chapel Arts Centre, Halifax. Ten poetry workshops and the production of a theatre show (2018-19 Greetland Academy).
